My wife gave birth in Cavan Hospital's MLU and we are super happy with the care received. The team of midwives took care of her throughout the whole process and thanks to their knowledge and great development of their role we had a happy and healthy baby. Thank you so much MLU team.

A&E staff were fantastic even though they were under pressure. Lucky to get a bed that night and I couldn't praise the staff in Medical 3 highly enough. Special thanks to Joanne, Anita, Donna and Vincent. They go above and beyond for their patients.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! Had my little boy there 5 months ago…. Had to have a emergency C-section got 15 staples put in, was told when being discharged to get my staples removed a week later by my PHN, got home 4 days after C-section and was rushed back for suspected infection of the incision. Sat in A&E with my 4 day old in triage with a woman who tested positive for COVID & RSV…. Finally got seen to my the gynaecologist was told no they needed to stay in for another week…. Got home and had to make a follow up appointment with my GP so I did, my incision got worse to the point were my blood pressure went through the roof I was rushed back a 2 weeks before Christmas….. Was left in A&E again for 10hrs with no painkillers and extremely high blood pressure…. Got sent up to the maternity ward were I told them on several occasions that I needed to get my staples removed the following day and they said they would but they completely ignored me…. My mental health midwife that I was seeing throughout my pregnancy had to go and ask them when I was getting them removed and to which they replied “oh we didn’t know they were still in” ALL 15 STAPLES were stuck in my skin to were they had to be yanked out and I was told “oh stop this isn’t painful”…… They ruined my experience with having my little boy I never got to enjoy the new born bubble or anything like that…. This is only the main things that has happened to me, my partner was also treated badly.

I had to go to this hospital for health reasons today. I want to express my gratitude to the entire staff, starting from the reception and ending with the doctor passing by who helped us when we got lost in the corridor. We were helped, the entire staff was attentive and polite to us. Excellent teamwork.🤗🙏

Unfortunately I can't give 0 stars , I most definetly would. I have come into the hospital on the 30th of September around 6pm . I sat in the waiting room for 12-13 hours until a doctor seen me. I'm suffering severe headache since the 27th of Sept. I started regretting coming there at that point already. I haven't had any sleep for more than 24 hours. Eventually I got into a ward. The doctor came to see access me. After that I got a CT scan done. It came back clear . They gave me paracetamol even tho I told them i tried everything for pain at home and that it didn't work. I haven't been advised on anything till the evening. I was being moved to medical assessment ward that night. About 6 am the next day I was told to gather my stuff and be ready to go to transit lounge. There were about 12 of us sitting in more "comfortable" chairs than in the waiting area , but again we waited about 8 hours to get either home or a bed. 2 people were sent home to come back the following day because they haven't got any beds left. Eventually after getting my bed I was told I'm booked for an MRI the following day that was Wednesday. I didn't get the MRI until the following Monday and having to suffer the headache they kept giving me paracetamol for pain that did near nothing. MRI came back clear , so they decided to do a lumber puncture on me , I didn't realise it's such a painful procedure P.S please reach out if you had that puncture do too , but i was up for anything at that stage just to find the cause of the headache. On Tuesday results were back and also clear. I suffered more pain from the puncture with lower back pain and severe neck area pains and ofcourse the headache that they warned me about , I couldn't lift my head off the pillow for 2 days. So there was no communication from my doctors team throughout the 2 days . I asked my nurse on duty at the time if my doctor is coming to see me at all , she advised that the doctors are still waiting on my puncture results. Even tho the doctor told me that it was clear on Tuesday. So much more of misleading information I received I could write a book about it at this stage. On Wednesday evening my doctors consultant came in to say that a neurologist is coming over the next day from Mater hospital to assess me. On Thursday evening there was no sign of anyone. I was asking the nurse on information and was told that they are doing rounds and will come to me at some stage. The Friday morning I demanded that my doctor would come round to me as noone really spoke to me or the next plans since Monday. My doctor came in i confronted him that there is very little communication and asked what is a further plan he advised that the Neurologist never showed up also misleading information by either nurses or the doctor. I said I can suffer in pain the same way at home and that there was no point for me to stay in hospital much longer. I asked for a referral to a more specialist doctor and that I'll be going home as I dreaded the idea of staying in that hospital another day. After I was notified that the referral is in process I packed my things , got the prescription and left . If I haven't demanded the referral on Friday god knows how much longer the would of kept me there with no further plans. In honesty the nurses are brilliant most of them are friendly and helpful. But the communication between patients and doctors is ridiculous and misleading.
