Have nothing but deep gratitude. This place saved my daughters life. The nursing staff, doctors, canteen staff and cleaning staff made our stay easier. This was 36 years ago, and my beautiful daughter almost 38.Cora Julie and Ann are in my prayers every day for their outstanding gentle care. Marti Ann and myself will always have a place in our hearts for you all. 🌹
My 10 month old came in via A and E and within 6 hours was in ICU. The triage was prompt and extremely efficient. The doctors and nurses were a step ahead of the game in every regard. They treated us as a pair and I felt very respected and recognised as his primary care giver. They answered all of my questions with professional integrity and explained next steps coherently and with care. The ICU team was linked in as soon as there was even a slight possibility he wouldn’t respond to the initial approaches for dealing with his laboured breathing. After swift and appropriately timed trial and errors up through the levels of respiratory support my son was admitted to ICU. The ICU doctors observed him multiple times during his early hours in the resuscitation room. He was given a chest x ray within the first two hours. This was all of a Sunday morning which if you’ve ever had any medical emergency you will know is one of the most resource limited times for hospitals in Ireland. In ICU the staff made me feel like my baby was in a home from home. They cheered us up and kept us company, they gave us compassionate truths and all the while worked around the clock caring for our sons medical needs. The team were multifaceted in their skill sets both intrapersonal and clinical. Our little boy was never discussed with us as just a patient more over communication constantly reflected the holistic child. We were given a place to stay while he was in ICU and food donations, a place to shower and use the toilet in peace and somewhere to wash our clothes or cook some food with other parents going through the same difficult experience brought so much relief in such a time of crisis. My baby is still in ICU and we are hoping to move to a ward today. A hospital is in my opinion it’s people from the consultants all the way to car park attendants and cleaning staff. I will be forever in awe of the work you all do everyday. I hope my baby comes home soon but in the mean time I know he’s in one of the best hospitals in the world because for me you got the most important bit right. You treated us as a unit and with the utmost dignity and care. Thank you for helping my baby to breathe independently again and thank you in advance for helping clear the rest of this mucus off his lungs.
We had a very good experience with the private clinic inside the hospital premises. This review is for the entire hospital, to be honest I felt really bad about the surroundings, as this is a hospital I would expect it to be a bit more clean. You could see cigarette buds everywhere. The hospital is not maintained well. Some staff are not friendly in nature, and others are very good. Overall it is fine. Update: I must say that we had a bad experience with their A&E department. To insert what an A&E department is, they should recruit and add more man power. We waited 11 hours to meet the doctor for our baby and whenever we enquired only answer was that we have many patients. Yes, in hospitals there will be patients. The security officials only care about the rule “only one parent is allowed inside”, they don’t care if someone smoke near the entrance, people not wearing mask etc. And their debit card machine never worked, they will send a letter via post and then we will need to pay the 100€ fees online. Such an inefficient management.
I brought my 7-month-old baby to Crumlin Children’s Hospital. They attempted to take blood three times — from her elbow, foot, and hand. Three different doctors and the IV team, and all failed on the their attempt. From the first try, they had someone pin her down while the Dr was not ready to take them. It was unnecessary and nothing was done to reduce how traumatic it was for her. On the third attempt, she got so worked up she started choking and couldn’t catch her breath. Her face changed colour and she looked terrified. I had to pass her to a nurse to try and get her breathing again. They started preparing oxygen before she finally came back around. At that point, I said enough. She was already unwell and there was no reason to let it go that far. It was too much for a baby to be put through. Absolutely shocking experience
Literally saved my sons life. Big shout out to PICU and Saint Anne's ward. Otto loved you guys and harbours no hardship feelings about blood drawing and freddies as the nurses here call them
