It is a good A&E if you compare it with Galway one. In 4 hours they’ve done examination, blood and urine tests and gave me ideas of the next steps. If you are waiting too long you can ask for tea, biscuits or a sandwich. Nice and helpful staff.
The treatment from the doctors and nurses is very good, they are friendly and the nurses are mostly very attentive and willing to help you with whatever you need. They offer you coffee, tea or water if you have been waiting for a while and also sandwiches or toast. The place is very clean and well organized. The bad thing about this place is that if you really have an emergency, it's better to go to another hospital. The staff at the reception reluctantly take all their time to assist you. There was a line of people waiting and they were talking, laughing, regardless of whether it was a emergency, unfortunately I went to this hospital several times for my, my wife's and my son's emergencies, and always the same. taking their time and talking and laughing without caring that there is a long line of people waiting to be treated urgently. The waiting times for the tests are crazy, if you have to go for a consultation or a test you have to realize that you will be sitting there all day waiting. The last time I went I was waiting 11 hours for a blood test.
Always patients on beds Have spent many a night there myself Staff can be cantankerous but they have a heavy schedule and are understaffed I get a room by myself usually due to being immunosuppressed post liver transplant and having cystic fibrosis
The place is filthy, nothing to do with doctors or nurses, but compared to hospitals in Canada, they have full-time cleaners, all day every day.
Been there because my gp was full and I had an emergency, I have been called after just 15 minutes they brought me in a small, smelly, dirty and dusty room and I have been told by the doctor that I went to the A&E and there was nothing they could have done for me. He offered me to do a blood test which I refused because I had 4 blood tests in the last 2 week and they always came back good. Anyway when I was there I knew what my problem was but they were keeping telling me that I was wrong. I have explained them that a specialist told what was wrong with me but they didn't want to listen me and also they didn't want to listen what my symptoms were and look at me. If you are sick go somewhere else, even a Barber has Better medical skills than those donkeys working in mayo general .
