I can only describe the staff in this section as utterly rude, incompetent, and racist. A few days ago, I went there to renew my permit. I arrived on time, but they made me wait over 40 minutes, even though I was the only person there. During the wait, a lady and her male colleague often laughed loudly as if they were at a local bar or stadium, not a public office. The male officer would also whistle frequently and hit the floor hard. Finally, the male officer asked if I was there to renew my permit. I gave him my name and details, but he said my information wasn’t in their system. I showed him the email with my appointment details. He claimed there must be a system glitch/problem and told me to leave, saying they would contact me soon. When I protested, he asked which country I was from and told me to email any complaints to the address on the notice board. I was truly disappointed.
Very grateful for having my situation sorted there today. All my introductions with this office through past years have been professionally positive 💐. I was there today’s afternoon and a Garda officer in Immigration Office was very helpful & understanding to my situation. It givens an excellent impression & a sense of safety & honour to see with real-life examples there are professionally outstanding Garda officers who try their best to be helpful for our community. Many thanks 🫡💐
I have been back and forth quite a bit to the GNIB and I have got to say that I would really expect a lot more. The staff and Gardi are very polite and do their job but the system needs an overhaul. Up until 3 weeks ago, the office was located in the middle of nowhere. You cannot book an appointment and it's first come first service. Therefore, if you need to be seen before 830, you are going to want to be there a full 40 mins ahead of the opening time (730). Thank God you can wait inside the station now, at the old facility you had to wait out in the rain. If you come during peak student season, like start of semester, you are going to find it extremely difficult to get seen if you're not a student. On top of all this, I was getting my eu partner rights recognize with the office and a fare warning to all. The letter you get from the naturalisation office says you need a few things but the GNIB need more things, such as proof of address (no, your rental agreement doesn't count) and p60s or the last three months payslips.
I wish I could give them a zero-star rating. Last week, on July 4th, I emailed them to book an appointment to renew my wife’s and my IRP cards. Our cards expire on September 16, 2024. However, the appointment date they provided was November 26, 2024—two months and ten days beyond our card expiry. I emailed them again, requesting an earlier date, but received the same appointment. Ironically, a friend of mine, whose card also expires in the same week as mine, applied later than I did and got an earlier appointment (late August). I don’t understand how their system works—this has been my worst experience with a government service in Ireland so far.
I was asked to contact them and ask for appointment. No one answered the phone. 2024-11-07 10:45 Galway
