Guys Sligo Hospital has lovely people I kid ya not. Yesterday I had an amazing experience, the customer service is top notch I am satisfied beyond measures. Shout out to Dr Thino, Barbara, Zara 💜 💛 💙 💜 🧡
I had my Gastrocopy and Colonoscopy here last 20th of April on a weekend clinic. The nurses and other staff were great. I've waited 2 hours for my procedure and was happy it was over. It was too much for me and I don't like to repeat this kind of examination. When I think about it, I was fasting from 11 am Friday and my procedure was Sat 2pm and I got my first food which was scone at around 3pm. Now, I know I can survive longer fasting because I'm on 16 hour fasting almost everyday but now this becomes easier.
Had an overall terrible experience here, not for the first time either. The incompetence from the top is extraordinary for such a large hospital. Everytime I visit this hospital there are issues but this was just ridiculous. Was sitting in a&e for 14hrs , arm injury. No wellness checks, asked at reception for even just a paracetamol multiple times, never came. After waiting for 10 hrs was told there was no hope of being seen till at least 8am due to no staff to xray, other people had come after me and been xrayed. When finally seen I was diagnosed with fractured elbow, and told to expect virtual consult next morning . That man called and said no fracture, no injury , no further medical treatment . I was in bits . Woke up today in agony went to another hospital, was diagnosed with a fracture within 1.5 hours and told I'll need intense physio. What an absolute joke. Geraldine in traige and nurse tricia were the only saving grace , absolute gems. But like I said , this place is rotting from the top down....
Was there today. Yes I expected the usual wait but we know that by now if we are prepared. Very welcoming receptionists, I must say. Triage was quick, about 30 mins after, and everyone that was waiting had a seat, no one was standing. People could charge their phones, plenty of sockets about. It's very easy to stand outside for a bit of fresh air, the door to outsode is just right there beside the seats. TV was playing, muted, it was a good distraction. Wonderful staff. Very reassuring and we did not feel rushed at all. Will never forget them, and I told them that. No one wants to be in A&E but they made it so much easier. PS there are 3 vending machines, taking ATM cards only ok, no cash, water, hot drinks and usual snacks (bars, crisps etc)
Excellent Hospital, ran very effectively and efficiently. A credit to all staff working there.
