What a wonderful stay! I cannot recommend The Old Garda Station enough. Nicola and Mark were the perfect hosts and even provided a well stocked welcome hamper upon arrival. The property is beautifully furnished and has everything you need for a home from home experience. The beds were really comfortable, as were the sofas and there is plenty of room to sit round the large dining table. We were lucky enough to experience some warm weather during our stay and took full advantage of the gorgeous back garden and stunning beaches! Thanks again Nicola and Mark!
The Old Garda Station is really gorgeous, with such history. Super cosy and welcoming in the winter. It is a perfect base to get to beaches, walks & villages. So relaxing and authentically Irish! I traveled from New York to Donegal airport (via Dublin). The arrival in Donegal airport is absolutely stunning. It was very easy picking up a rental car and heading to Doochary. There really is everything you need within a short distance of the Old Garda Station. I also liked that it wasn’t too remote, as a single female traveller. The house itself is well furnished and it’s easy to feel at home right away. A fully equipped kitchen and high quality linen and towels were much appreciated. I noted from the “Welcome Book” that most of the artwork is original, created by Nicola - Wow! This visit was just a short trip and I didn’t get a chance to explore all of all the great tips and recommendations. I plan on returning!!
Stayed here at the start of September - what a beautiful place. Nestled in the picturesque village of Doochary and surrounded by rugged hills, yet only a short drive from gorgeous sandy beaches along the Wild Atlantic Way. The house feels like a home from home, cosy and relaxing. The walled garden is an added bonus as it's a real suntrap and so was a nice spot to soak up the sun or relax on an evening. Having a village shop next door was also very handy! The Old Garda Station is a lovely spot that I hope to return to again.
