Had a major operation, that had one or two things go wrong for me. The care that I recieved from the Recovery Ward to my 13 day stay at St Gerards was absolutely mind blowing. I could not leave my bed for 4 days, and the nurses who cared for me made me feel so relaxed to what was sometimes an embarrassing situation. Nurses should be the highest paid people in or working world, to do what they do with such Warm smiles has to be experienced to be believed.
home accident required ambulance and A and E .hospital response was truly wonderful in UHG the care was faultless and more important the staff concern with patient welfare was wonderful. from the Doctor Astma who was truly special to the nursing staff and support staff who looked after us to the general air of it being a well run organisation We are forever grateful
As a Registered Nurse from the United States, here in Galway to transport a patient back to his home in the US, after having been injured from a fall while on vacation, I would like to to commend Social Worker, Sarah, who by far went above and beyond in helping this patient be totally prepared for discharge and ultimate transport. This turned out to be somewhat of a complicated and time-consuming case, although Sarah handled all with extreme compassion and competence, not to mention Sarah’s meticulous attention to detail. If your facility were to offer an Employee of the Year award, I would highly recommend Sarah for this prestigious award due to her over the top delivery of top notch customer service! Thanks again, Sarah, for all your help in making this particular transport run more smoothly! The world could use a lot more dedicated employees, such as yourself. You are truly an “angel” in disguise!
Emergency Department desk staff are absolutely disgusting. Rude, disrespectful, no manners. Everything is a problem for them and the stock answer " there's nothing we can do or we can't help you. I stood waiting today (Saturday 9/8/25) and overhead the reception staff make fun of people asking questions when they left. I approached the desk to ask a question and before I even opened my mouth the woman started to shake her head. I never even bothered asking. These type of people do not deserve to have the opportunity to work in the public sector. I can only say the triage nurse was very nice. Helpfull and friendly. You may be better to ask for professional medical advice before trying to deal with these disgusting people. Update:. After 10 hours a junior surgeon carried out a very painful procedure with no anesthetic. He wanted to give me medication that I already informed 2 lots of staff about the reason I could not take it.He noticed I was a psychiatric patient and said almost nothing to me after that I told him "I may be a psyc patient but it does not make me an idiot "He left and his female assistant helped me out. I am very thankful for her help and professionalism. I hope you never have to go to this hell hole..... Further update: The doctor told me the public health nurse would call to me daily to dress my wound. 4 weeks later, no public health nurse!!! I told him my wound was infected. He said no its not. You don't need antibiotics. Take paracetamol. Thankfully my GP prescribed strong antibiotics and helped me to get my dressings changed. Thank goodness that my GP is so good. He gave me a list of symptoms to look out for that indicate the onset of septic shock. I find it completely impossible that there are 5 star reviews about this place. Very suspicious !
I had a bad injury to my finger yesterday. I had to see the plastics team in Galway emergency surgical unit. It was really a great pleasure to share my experience. The staff from the reception to the plastic surgeon who did the procedure were so good to me... especially Dr. Rachel and the nurse Lincy were so kind to me... thanks to each of the staff member who looked after me...
